Sad to say that - to those of you that care - my Feb socks are not seeing their end anytime soon.
I have a theory includes these facts:
1 - I knit on them every single day and got burnt out quickly
2 - Feb is the shortest month (though to be fair I'm not even close to done and it's already March)
3 - That nasty cold that I'm STILL hanging on to though it's been a full 4 weeks *snort cough snort* that drove all desire to knit out of me for a week
4 - I have learned how to dye yarn in my microwave and now care not for the whims of knitting
5 - They are insanely complicated long lace socks that I have not attempted the like of before
.......yeah, but at least I'll have them to give to my sister before Christmas....right? :)
On the bright side I had the best time making tiny hats and putting them on my rather large dogs. Here are some highlights:
So tiny! And I am obsessed with the little feather!!!

In which there were February Socks
Good morning!! Can't believe we're already discussing February Socks!! January's were finished early so I got to start on these little beauties and I'm glad I did - they are complicated! They are the Treebeard Socks and I love them, but I've only just finished the cuff and I've been working on them for 6 days straight!! I'm using Dream In Color Starry and LOVE how soft and gorgeous this yarn is - you can even see its sparkles in my crappy cell phone photo. I'm away to start the heel now, but I hope you're all having a great day!

in which there was two socks
| color is most accurate in this photo |
I have plenty of sock yarn left over, and am looking forward to making some Hexipuffs from The Beekeeper's Quilt pattern by Tiny Owl Knits. This pattern concept is so charming, hundreds of mini projects put together to make a large quilt! I also love that it can be made with sock or fingering yarn left overs. The best part is that the quilt is made up of many different yarns that encompass other treasured projects! I will be able to look back at the small puffs and think of all the other projects I have made for loved ones over the year. I'm sure the quilt will take a long time, but like all nice things, it is worth the wait.

in which there was a loophole
In 2013 I made a resolution - rather a promise - to not make any selfish yarn purchases for myself. I had just purchased all of my yarn for my 2013 tour de sock, and I felt that I should keep my new passion in check before I spent all the money I've been saving up. I could purchase yarn for other projects if I had a recipient in mind, and I could use stash yarn all I want. I do love my stash - so many beautiful yarns with so many possibilities. I have plenty of it to keep me busy for 2013.
I do seem to have a bit of an accident at Purl though...

Well, it's not yarn...yet.

in which there was shedding
What animal sheds a the most of all animals? Because I seem to be channeling that animal today. A yak? Moose? Sometimes I think it's my Labrador Retriever (as she seems to end up on every black piece of clothing I own). But there has to be some animal shedding it's fur for the summer to release way more fur than my 50lb pup. Anyway, I'm channeling whatever animal that is.
I keep getting that feeling you get when you feel one of your hairs on your arm and it's there when you move and you can't reach it no matter how many times you try and it's going to be there forever bothering you and WHY DIDN'T YOU JUST SHAVE YOUR HEAD LIKE ANNE HATHAWAY EVEN THOUGH YOU COULD NEVER PULL IT OFF BUT AT LEAST YOU WOULDN'T BE IN THIS MESS!!!
Just. Breathe...... and knit sock, which is neverending even though it should be ending soon, but there is yet another sock of the same waiting to be cast on.....How can something take so long and still end up too small for your large lady feet?
I have been very faithful to the sock since it began over a week ago. I have given it my full time and attention and it is very close to completion, and have only strayed from it for one other project (and that's a gift so it doesn't count) . I will conquer sock, but perhaps I might start a shawl before I cast on for its mate. Or some lace, and there is that hat.... Hmmmmm
Knitting, you are a fickle mistress....

in which there was poutine
Tonight I was lucky enough to spend some quality time with my friends. It has been a tough couple of weeks at work (just some rather frustrating requests at my soul sucking desk job, nothing too traumatizing), but it felt very nice to spend time after work eating and chatting with some wonderful people. I even got to try a food truck version of Canada's famous poutine (actually it had Korean style beef on it, but I'll take what I can get. It was very good). Unfortunately, California is experiencing some very cold weather, and though we have no right to complain compared to other states experiencing blizzards, we all had numb fingers and toes by the end of our adventure.
Well worth it :)
